GREENFIELD — Greenfield Police Department reported that detectives served two separate search warrants in December as part of ongoing investigations involving serious public safety concerns.
According to the department, the first incident occurred Sunday evening, Dec. 21, when detectives served a search warrant in the 300 block of Hutchinson Drive. The investigation involved a juvenile who allegedly brandished a firearm at another juvenile.
“Officers recovered a revolver and two airsoft pellet guns,” police said in a statement.
A 17-year-old juvenile was taken into custody and transported to Monterey County Juvenile Hall. Detectives said the investigation is ongoing.
Police are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact the Greenfield Police Department at 831-674-5111.
In the same release, the department issued a reminder to parents to “stay involved in your children’s lives,” including knowing who they are with and what they are doing.
In a separate case, Greenfield detectives, assisted by the FBI and the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, served a search warrant Tuesday morning, Dec. 23, in the 100 block of Spruce Circle in King City.
Police said the warrant stemmed from a cybertip involving the viewing and possession of child sexual abuse material.
Otuafi James Hemasi, 32, of King City, was taken into custody for possession of child pornography and transported to the Monterey County Jail, according to the department.
As part of the announcement, police also reminded families to monitor children’s online activity, talk with them about safe internet use and report suspicious behavior.
“Our officers will continue to work through the holidays to keep our community safe,” the Greenfield Police Department said.
