OPERATION SANTA

KING CITY — Operation Santa is coming soon, providing food, toys and holiday cheer to local families in need. A collection box for new, unwrapped toys is available at City Hall in King City during the next two weeks. Community members are encouraged to help brighten the holidays for children in South Monterey County by donating toys, blankets or jackets. CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

SOLEDAD — The 39th Annual Soledad Christmas Celebration is just around the corner, kicking off on Friday, Dec. 5, for the Christmas Tree Lighting. The ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. at Cesar Chavez Park, featuring festive lights, hot cocoa and a “Christmas Dog” Costume Contest. Then, on Saturday, Dec. 6, the main celebration begins at 2 p.m. with activities, entertainment and vendors, also at Cesar Chavez Park, followed by the parade at 5 p.m. To participate in the parade or enter the dog costume contest, visit cityofsoledad.com and click on the Events page.


DOWNTOWN PARADE

KING CITY — King City Chamber of Commerce’s Christmas Parade will take place downtown on Friday, Dec. 5, bringing festive cheer to the community. This year’s theme is “Peace on Earth,” and the parade is scheduled for 6 p.m. along Broadway Street. Registration forms are now available for participants. To request a form, residents can email the Chamber or call the office at 831-385-3814.


BONUS BRIEF: HIRING EVENTS

SALINAS — Monterey County Works is hosting two upcoming hiring events at the Salinas Career Center, located at 344 Salinas St. in downtown Salinas. The first, a Multiple Employer Job Fair, will take place on Thursday, Dec. 4, from 1 to 4 p.m. The second, an Industry Spotlight Recruitment focused on retail, is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 10, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Both events are free for employers and jobseekers.
