RIBBON CUTTING

SALINAS — Monterey County Sheriff’s Office will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the new Re-Entry Resource Center on Thursday, Oct. 23. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. at 1412 Natividad Road in Salinas and will be followed by a job and resource fair that runs until 1 p.m. The event is open to the public. The Re-Entry Resource Center aims to support individuals and families transitioning back into the community after incarceration. It will serve as a hub for assistance, guidance and opportunities, contributing to safer and more successful reintegration. This initiative reflects a commitment to reducing recidivism and strengthening community safety. The post-ceremony job and resource fair will connect attendees with local employers, service providers and community organizations offering employment opportunities and support services.

MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County Regional Fire Protection District has a vacancy on its Board of Directors. HEALTH CELEBRATION

GONZALES — Salinas Valley Health marks a decade of service in Gonzales with a special Community Health Day on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Taylor Farms Family Health and Wellness Center, located at 850 Fifth St. The event will feature a range of activities and services, including free flu vaccines administered by the Salinas Valley Health Mobile Clinic, resource tables, Zumba classes, cooking demonstrations and entertainment. Attendees can also participate in a recognition program and enjoy various giveaways, including soccer balls (while supplies last). The celebration is open to all ages and aims to promote health and wellness in the community.
