SOLEDAD — Soledad Community Health Care District (SCHCD) recently celebrated Maggie Campa’s retirement from the SCHCD Board of Directors after nearly 20 years of dedicated service.
Campa’s leadership and commitment have been instrumental in expanding access to healthcare in the community, especially through her work on women’s health initiatives.
In a special ceremony at the Oct. 24 Board meeting, Campa was honored for her decades-long contributions and received a certificate of recognition from Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez’s District 3 office, in appreciation of her enduring service to the Soledad community.
Campa’s involvement with SCHCD began when she was invited to join the board by former District leader Steve Pritt. Drawing from her experience growing up in a rural community where healthcare was hard to access, she made it her mission to ensure that the residents of Soledad had access to the quality healthcare they deserve.
One of her proudest accomplishments was the establishment of the Women’s Health Center, which now provides such essential services as annual mammograms and exams, making a significant impact on women’s health in the community by breaking down barriers to preventive care.
“Being part of the District has been one of the best decisions of my life,” said Campa, reflecting on her years of service. “It allowed me to give back to the community I love and help ensure that people here have access to the healthcare they need. I’m especially proud of the Women’s Health Center, which has truly made a difference for so many women in our area.”
Throughout her tenure, Campa was a key figure in SCHCD’s growth and evolution. She worked closely with fellow board members and CEO Ida Lopez Chan to expand the District’s services and maintain financial stability, all while keeping the healthcare needs of the community at the forefront.
“We are incredibly grateful for Maggie’s dedication and leadership,” Chan said. “Her contributions have been instrumental in the growth of our District, particularly her role in establishing the Women’s Health Center, which has improved access to essential healthcare services for women in Soledad. Maggie’s passion for the well-being of our community will have a lasting impact for years to come.”
Campa’s legacy is defined by her commitment to ensuring that Soledad’s residents have access to the best possible healthcare. As she steps down from her position, her work will continue to inspire the next generation of board members to serve with the same dedication and vision.
