PET ADOPTION EVENT
MONTEREY COUNTY — Give a pet a loving home for the holidays during SPCA Monterey County’s Home for the Holidays Adoption Event this weekend, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. During the event, the adoption fee will be waived on all adoptable pets in the shelter, thanks to donors. SPCA Monterey County is located at 1002 Monterey-Salinas Highway, across from WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Adoption hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. SPCA adoptions include the pet’s spay or neuter surgery, permanent microchip identification, vaccinations, SPCA ID tag, a health evaluation and more. KING CITY — Southern Monterey County Republican Women Federated will host its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. at Pozzi’s Stampede, 207 Broadway St., in King City. The annual Christmas meeting will feature entertainment by Los Vaqueros Hunting Club Traveling Band. Members and guests are asked to bring an unwrapped toy or gift for a child between the ages of 7 and 14, which will be donated to Loaves and Fishes Food Distribution. SALINAS — Hartnell College has announced that the Gary Shaw Track and Bill Elliott Football Field will officially reopen to the public on Tuesday, Dec. 3, following a ribbon-cutting and grand reopening ceremony. The event is free and open to the public and will take place from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Hartnell College Main Campus (corner of College Drive and Hartnell Street) in Salinas. After being closed for significant upgrades and renovations since February, the Gary Shaw Track and Bill Elliott Football Field are ready to welcome the community back. The newly resurfaced track and enhanced facilities will provide an upgraded environment for student-athletes, community members and fitness enthusiasts. These improvements will offer safer, higher-quality student training and competition spaces, recreational exercise and community events, furthering Hartnell College’s commitment to promoting athletic excellence, health, fitness and community engagement.
