GREENFIELD — Led by double-digits in kills by Aleena Salas, the Greenfield Bruins volleyball improved to 9-1 in the Cypress Division and 18-6 overall with wins last week against the Marina Mariners and Pacific Collegiate Pumas.

Last Monday on the Monterey Peninsula, Salas had 16 kills, 15 digs and six service aces against host Marina. Jocylyn Mendoza led Greenfield with 23 assists and Emily Soto added eight kills and four aces. Kimberly Carpio and Layla Rodriguez combined for 13 kills and six blocks in the 3-0 sweep.

In Thursday’s game with the Pumas, Salas continued her outstanding play with 10 kills and 10 digs. Carpio contributed with 10 kills and five blocks, while Mendoza and Arlene Cruz combined for 23 assists.

“We are staying focused on one game at a time,” said Greenfield head coach Adrian Trujillo. “The team is continuing to work hard and maintaining focus and not letting our guard down.”

Tuesday night the Bruins played in Salinas against Notre Dame and will host the St. Francis Sharks on Thursday.
