LISTENING SESSION
KING CITY — Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez and his District 3 office will be hosting a community listening session on Wednesday, Oct. 9, in King City. The session will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the King City Library Branch, 402 Broadway St. Residents are invited to share their thoughts and concerns about the community and county government.
FAIR THEME
MONTEREY — The Monterey County Fair and Event Center is seeking participants to create the theme for the 89th annual Monterey County Fair, scheduled to take place from Aug. 28 to Sept. 1, 2025. Theme ideas should be inspired by the enchanting world of the “jungle.” Entrants are encouraged to craft catchy slogans of eight words or less, drawing upon the vibrant and diverse elements of the jungle and the Fair. This contest is open to participants of all ages, and residency in Monterey County is not a requirement. Multiple submissions are welcome. The winning theme will be selected by the Monterey County Fair Board of Directors and announced prior to the Fair. The individual who submits the chosen theme will receive a VIP Ticket Package, which includes one VIP Parking Pass and four General Admission Tickets to the 2025 Monterey County Fair. FLU CLINICS
SALINAS VALLEY — Monterey County Health Department is partnering with local organizations to provide no cost influenza “flu” vaccination clinics at community-based locations throughout the county again this year. Anyone 6 months of age and older is welcome to attend. Flu clinics are scheduled for the following dates, times and places: Oct. 12, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Central Park, 207 Fifth St., Gonzales; Oct. 13, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Albert and Donna Olivera Clinic, 467 El Camino Real, Greenfield; Oct. 14, 4 to 7 p.m., Salinas Boys and Girls Club, 85 Maryal Drive, Salinas; Oct. 15, 4 to 7 p.m., Chualar Fire, 24281 Washington St., Chualar; and Oct. 17, 4 to 7 p.m., San Ardo Elementary, 62428 Center St., San Ardo. Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Clinics are subject to weather cancellation and vaccine supply. GREENFIELD — The annual Harvest Festival in Greenfield is expanding to two days of free family fun this year. Presented by the City of Greenfield, the 2024 event will take place Saturday, Oct. 19, from 12 to 8 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 20, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., along El Camino Real, from Oak to Walnut avenues. Both days will be filled with live music, a variety of vendors, arts and crafts, and a car show.
