SOLEDAD — One thing that we know from watching Soledad Aztecs play this year is that they have not fed off the momentum of last season, as they move to 0-5.

Entering last week, the Aztecs were 0-4 after losing to the Gonzales Spartans the week before. However, their Friday game was the start of league play and they had the opportunity to restart their season.

With Soledad trying to gain a win, they would have a hard time as they had a couple of key players missing. Some of those players were their quarterback and starting midline backer who won Effective Player of the Year.

The Aztecs competed against the North Salinas Vikings last Friday. From the opening kickoff, the Vikings were in control of the game. The Aztecs lost 36-0, making them 0-1 in league and 0-5 overall.

This Thursday, Soledad will head to Salinas to face the Alisal Trojans, who are 3-2 overall.

Editor’s Note: Due to Palma’s recent forfeit of games, Soledad is now 1-4 overall.
