SOLEDAD — The cause of a wildfire near Astoria Shooting Range in Soledad is still under investigation, according to Cal Fire officials.
The wildfire, named the Range Fire, started June 4 at about 5:38 p.m. near the gun range on San Vicente Road, northeast of Soledad. The grass fire burned about 72 acres before being fully contained the next day.
There was no immediate threat to the community or any structures, officials said.
A total of 10 fire engines, two crews from Gabilan, one dozer, two water tenders and four aircraft and helicopters were assigned to the fire.
“The City of Soledad would like to give a huge thank you to all the firefighters that kept this fire from becoming a danger to our city,” posted the City of Soledad on social media.
