SOLEDAD — TREA (The Retired Enlisted Association) Chapter 55 President Jack Stewart presented its first JROTC (Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps) Award to Class of 2022 Cadet Evelyn Camacho during a ceremony at Soledad High School on May 21.

An assemblage of cadets, fellow students, parents and family members packed the gymnasium for the event emceed by Capt. Pete Gomez, a retired U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Soledad High’s Navy JROTC senior naval science instructor.

Stewart praised school staff, cadets and their parents for their conspicuous support of the NJROTC program developed over the past few years, presenting Camacho with her well-deserved medal and a monetary award of $200.

In addition, she received a Congressional Certificate acknowledging her achievements, which was arranged by Jason Cameron, director for the County of Monterey Military and Veterans Affairs Office.

Stewart congratulated all the cadets on their outstanding performance and pledged ongoing support of the Soledad NJROTC program.
