SALINAS VALLEY — Salinas Valley Fair activities will begin this week with the virtual junior livestock auction set for Saturday, May 8.
Like last year, Covid-19 pandemic health guidelines have caused an online format and an earlier scheduling than the traditional mid-May fair dates.
Youth from local 4-H and FFA clubs will be participating in the auction, which will take place from 9 to 11 a.m., and have issued an invitation to the community to support them through bidding. For interested buyers, visit the fair’s website.
Since the in-person fair cannot be held, Salinas Valley Fair Interim CEO Lauren Hamilton confirmed more activities will take place throughout May in order to offer the public as much of the fair experience as can be done under current safety guidelines.
A Fair Food Pop-Up and Flicks at the Fair schedule of events will begin May 12 and last through May 16, running 11 a.m. through 8 p.m. each day at the fairgrounds, 625 Division St., in King City.
“We will have some of our favorite fair food vendors on site,” Hamilton said.
Vendors lined up include Pony Espresso, Butler Amusements, J&L Sweeties, Stroud Enterprises, JP’s Old West Cinnamon Rolls, Willamette Valley Pie, Capitol Concessions and Suck It Up Concessions.
The schedule of movies and entertainment is planned to shift with each day: May 12 will be ladies night featuring “Bad Moms”; May 13 will be Sol Treasures presenting a “Disney Drive-in Concert”; May 14 will be “8 Seconds”; and May 15 will be “Jumanji: The Next Level.”
