SALINAS — One Stop Career Center in Salinas has reopened for in-person services after being limited to virtual offerings during the past year of pandemic shutdowns.
Laura Kershner, employment program representative for Monterey County Workforce Development, said the new location at 344 Salinas St., which can currently hold 10 people at a time, is open for those looking to get their jobs back on track.
“Sometimes you just need a little bit of help when you’re looking for work, and that’s what we’re here to do,” Kershner said. “We have skilled and trained job counselors and talent coaches who are there to provide you with the support you need.”
The center provides the dual services of Monterey County Workforce Development Board and America’s Job Center, also known as the One Stop Career Center, under one roof.
Those who enter the job center can talk to career counselors, get registered into the CalJobs system, access online and register for career services, sign up for classes, or use the phones available to talk to EDD personnel.
Kershner said there are numerous employers looking for workers. She explained they are mainly agriculture-related now, but other jobs are opening up, such as in hospitality, as the pandemic clears.
The new One Stop center asks that people call in for appointments before showing up. To schedule an appointment, call 831-796-3335.
