Made to feel welcome

We recently had the unfortunate experience of needing to visit the Emergency Room at Mee Memorial Hospital in King City. Not sure of how systems like this might work during these uncertain times, we called ahead and were pleasantly informed that we could certainly come down to the ER.

Once there, they took my husband in right away and I was required to wait outside per the COVID-19 guidelines. Someone had kindly laid out some chairs in the shade for the visitors’ use, and I was able to enjoy reading my book in the lovely breezeway while I waited for my husband’s results.

Every employee who came in or out of the ER greeted me in a friendly fashion. One told me that my husband would be a while and I should go and get myself something cold to drink. I was made to feel very welcome there despite the concerning circumstances.

I visited Safeway for my cold drink and found equally nice and helpful people there.

Thank you, King City, for making what was a really stressful afternoon much easier to bear.

Justice for Ricky

May 4 will be 16 years that we found our son, Ricky, murdered. Even though Ricky is gone, he will always be someone who brightens our hearts and is remembered. We always miss his beautiful smile and his sense of humor.

Our family makes sure that his nieces and nephews know about their uncle and the love and kindness he would show them. Ricky was only 28 when he his life was taken. He never got to see his two sons grow up, graduate from high school and celebrate Father’s Day with them.

We still have sad days because Ricky is not here with us, but we keep living, hoping that one day justice will be served.

Only one murderer is in prison for killing Ricky. Unfortunately, he will get out and live his life even though he took the life of our son. That is so very unfair. The other murderers have never been arrested. The governor has put up a reward for $50,000 for anyone with information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the other murderers.

I am begging you to please contact the Greenfield Police Department at 831-674-5111 or 1-800-782-7463. All callers will remain anonymous. Please help to bring justice to Ricky.
