SALINAS VALLEY — Youth leaders from Greenfield, Gonzales and Soledad are partnering with their cities to host the third annual South County Youth Summit on May 2 at the Dennis and Janice Caprara Community Center in Gonzales.

Organized by youth councils from the three cities, the summit is designed to connect students with educational resources, career pathways and life skills opportunities.

This year’s theme, “Beyond the Diploma,” will focus on helping students explore options after high school, including college, career training and programs that support the transition into adulthood.

Organizers said the summit is expected to draw between 130 and 140 attendees following last year’s event, which attracted more than 100 participants.

The event will include interactive workshops, prize giveaways, a complimentary lunch and opportunities for students to connect with local organizations and community resources.

Workshop topics will include teen driver safety, financial literacy and Cooking 101, with sessions aimed at helping students build practical skills outside the classroom.

A resource fair featuring local organizations and community partners will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 12:55 p.m. at the Fairview Middle School Joint Use Gym in Gonzales.

“We are excited to offer this unique opportunity for local organizations to connect with youth from Gonzales, Greenfield and Soledad,” organizers said. “Your presence at our resource fair will help empower and inspire youth with access to valuable services, programs and opportunities.”

The summit is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, at the Dennis and Janice Caprara Community Center, 630 Fifth St. in Gonzales.

The free event is open to youth from Greenfield, Gonzales, Soledad and surrounding communities. Advance registration for students is encouraged by 11 a.m. on May 1 at tinyurl.com/SCYS2026.
