SOLEDAD — Soledad resident Jafe Danbury’s debut novel, “The Other Cheek,” has been named by the Independent Book Publishing Professionals Group as one of the best indie books of 2020.

Danbury was recently announced a Finalist Medal winner in the Best First Novel category in the 2020 Next Generation Indie Book Awards, the world’s largest book awards program for independent publishers and self-published authors. The awards’ judging panel is comprised of leaders of the indie book publishing industry.

“The Other Cheek” was published during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, in October 2019, by Soledad-based publisher, Jefe Press, and deals with the important issue of domestic violence, and its underreported demographic of abuse on a male by a female.

Winners and finalists will be honored June 26 in an online event, streaming live on the Next Generation Indie Book Awards’ Facebook page at 5 p.m.
