GONZALES — A 12-year-old child was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street Wednesday afternoon in Gonzales.
On Sept. 20, at about 3:16 p.m., the Gonzales Police Department responded to the report of a traffic collision involving an SUV and a pedestrian. The collision occurred in the crosswalk at the intersection of Fifth Street and the Highway 101 overpass.
According to police, the driver of the SUV did not see the pedestrian in the crosswalk.
The 12-year-old pedestrian suffered moderate injuries and was airlifted to the hospital by Cal Star for treatment. Police said the child was “conscious and responsive to emergency personnel.”
“The traffic collision is still under investigation,” police said.
