SOLEDAD — Sophomore wrestler Natalie Ramirez of Soledad High won one match and lost two others at last week’s California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State Wrestling Championships.

The State Meet was held at the Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield.

Ramirez wrestled two matches on Thursday, winning one match by pin and losing the other. Then, on Friday, she wrestled in the consolation round and after a loss was eliminated from the tournament.

Soledad girls’ wrestling coach Tiffany Muro was pleased with the performance of her young student athlete at the State championships. Ramirez was the only wrestler from South Monterey County who qualified to compete.

“I am very proud of the young lady and athlete she has become,” Muro said. “Her loss at State does not define her because she is still a champion.”
