SALINAS VALLEY — The volleyball programs for South Monterey County kick off on Aug. 31, when King City High will start play against visiting Alisal High.

Last Friday both the JV and varsity levels at King City had multitudes of girls interested in the Mustang teams, necessitating multiple days of tryouts.

New and returning players have also been training for the upcoming season at the other local schools.

On Sept. 9, there will be three volleyball games, with Greenfield High hosting the York School; Soledad High hosting Monte Vista Christian; and Gonzales High hosting Rancho San Juan.
