GREENFIELD — On Saturday night, the Greenfield Lady Bruins volleyball team was beaten in three games (25-17, 25-19, 25-19) at home to Saratoga in the Central Coast Section Division III playoffs.

Greenfield (22-7) was seeded eighth in Division III and received the home game, and Saratoga (17-6) earned the ninth seed.

“I liked that we played as a team and we built on our team chemistry,” said Bruins sophomore Aleena Salas. “I am really happy that we had a home game in the playoffs, although we weren’t able to win tonight.”

Salas had 11 kills and 13 digs in the game to lead the team. Jocylyn Mendoza contributed with 11 digs and 10 assists, and Layla Rodriguez led the Bruins with seven blocks.

Earlier in the week, Greenfield beat Rancho San Juan by a 3-0 score at home and followed that with a 3-1 victory at home against North Salinas.

Salas had 29 kills and 25 digs in the Rancho game, and Jocylyn Mendoza led the Bruins with 33 assists. In the North High game, Salas finished with 21 kills and had nine digs, while Mendoza added 28 assists.
