MONTEREY COUNTY — United Way Monterey County has partnered with the Monterey County Department of Social Services to provide rent and utility assistance to eligible residents who are experiencing unemployment and loss of income because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“All of us know someone who has been financially impacted by the coronavirus pandemic,” said Katy Castagna, United Way’s president and CEO. “These friends and neighbors may be struggling to cover basic needs, such as rent and utilities.”
To address the growing need, United Way has joined with the County of Monterey and local service organizations to distribute $1.25 million of CARES Act funding to support families experiencing financial hardship and housing instability.
Residents can call 2-1-1 Monterey County to determine eligibility and receive benefits information about rent and utility assistance.
