Over the holiday weekend, many spook-tacular activities to celebrate Day of the Dead and Halloween returned to the Salinas Valley, with thousands in attendance. Here is a look at some of the events that took place this year.


Día de los Muertos Festival

Community members dressed up to participate in Greenfield Cultural Arts Center’s third annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Festival on Oct. 30 to celebrate the Mexican heritage honoring loved ones who have died.

The family-friendly event took place at the Arts Center on El Camino Real, where altars and artwork were on display inside with music, dance and art activities outside.


Front Street’s Spook Fest

Hundreds of trick-or-treaters stopped by the second annual Front Street’s Spook Fest on Oct. 31, presented by the group Front Street in collaboration with the City of Soledad and Soledad Police Department.

The family-friendly event took place on Front Street and featured a parade, music, carnival games, pumpkin decorating, costume contests, car decorating contest and trunk-or-treat.
