GONZALES — Gonzales High School had three players voted first-team in girls soccer for the Coastal Athletic League at a meeting of league coaches. This was the first year that the Spartans participated in the Coastal Athletic League (CAL) after being part of the Mission Trail Athletic League since 1996.
Gonzales finished second in CAL this season with an 8-2-2 league mark and a 9-6-2 record overall. Anzar High School was the league champion with a 9-1-2 record. Chosen first-team for Gonzales were Jazmin Hernandez, Ashley Ochoa, and Susy Tejeda.
Most Valuable Players of the league were Ebony Telford of Anzar and Kate Marcotulio of Oakwood. Co-Coaches of the Year were Samuel Vasquez of Anzar and Grant Combs of Trinity. Sportsmanship Award winners were Annie Kaur of Oakwood and Kyleekai Aten of Marina.
Rounding out the first-team were: Wendy Guardado, Carmen Sahagun, Vanessa Bravo, Anzar; Emily Moya, Oakwood; Katie Newman, Emily Patz, York; Makenna Davis, Juliann McGrath, Paulina Sanchez.
Chosen to the CAL second team were: Marilyn Rodriguez, Selene Virgen, Paola Leon, Gonzales; Maya Dixon, Rossy Guzman, Christine Hagen, Anzar; Cerys Holter, Anaya Khan, Isabella Rickard, Oakwood; Katie Calciano, Josefina Camacho, York; Dallas Johnson, Emily Combs, Trinity; Dulce Martinez, Melissa Casas-Osornio, Marina.
