SOLEDAD — The 2024 California School Dashboard, released by the California Department of Education, shows encouraging outcomes for the Soledad Unified School District (SUSD) in several key areas.
The Dashboard, California’s accountability system for schools, measures school and district performance based on current-year results and year-over-year improvements.
SUSD’s results reflect steady progress in academic achievement. In 2024, English/Language Arts scores increased by 9.9 points, while Mathematics scores rose by 4 points. The district also saw notable progress in college and career readiness, with over 58% of the Class of 2024 classified as “approaching prepared” or “prepared.”
In addition to academic growth, the district made strides in areas related to student well-being and engagement. Chronic absenteeism declined by 8.1%, graduation rates increased by 3.5% to reach 95.4% and suspension rates decreased by 0.9%.
“We are proud of the progress reflected in these results, particularly in reducing chronic absenteeism and increasing graduation rates,” said Superintendent Randy Bangs. “These outcomes are a result of the dedication and hard work of our students, staff and families. While we are encouraged by the progress we’ve made, we recognize there is always room to grow, and we remain focused on building on this momentum.”
The Dashboard also confirms that SUSD is meeting the state standard for implementing academic standards.
With an enrollment of 4,700 students, 84.1% of whom are socioeconomically disadvantaged and 33.2% English Learners, the district remains committed to supporting its diverse student population through targeted programs and initiatives.
The California School Dashboard uses a color-coded system, ranging from red (lowest) to blue (highest), to report performance across state and local measures. It allows parents, educators and community members to assess strengths and identify areas for improvement.
