SOLEDAD — Officers with the Soledad Police Department are investigating an incident on May 15, during which a victim shot their assailant who was armed with a knife.
Police said at around 9:30 p.m. last Friday, a subject with a knife approached another person on the 1200 block of Palm Avenue. The suspect attacked a 23-year-old victim with the knife, but the victim was able to fire two rounds from a revolver at the attacker.
The suspect was injured and fled on foot. The victim was unharmed, according to police.
Police said the victim, from Soledad, was specifically targeted, but that they are trying to determine if the conflict was gang-related.
