SOLEDAD — Soledad Police Department has issued a public alert following an increase in vehicle burglaries and stolen vehicles across the city.

According to the department, ongoing investigations suggest that the suspects may be using an electronic skimmer device to unlock car doors and access the vehicles’ interiors.

“Soledad Police Department is asking the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious subject(s) at night or seen attempting to open vehicle doors in any area of the city,” police said.

The department advises community members to take precautions, such as removing valuables from vehicles and keeping anything visible out of sight to deter theft.

Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activity by contacting the Soledad Police Department’s non-emergency number at 831-755-5111.
