SOLEDAD — City of Soledad recently came together for its annual Cops Giving Tree event, a festive initiative led by the Soledad Police Department in collaboration with Salinas Valley State Prison, Correctional Training Facility, Soledad Unified School District and the Soledad Community Center.

The Dec. 13 event, held at the Community Center, provided Christmas meals and gifts to more than 80 families in the Soledad community, bringing holiday cheer to those in need.

Soledad Mayor Anna Velazquez expressed her pride in the event.

“Our police department has prioritized giving back to our community through a multitude of community policing strategies,” Velazquez said. “The annual Cops Giving Tree is a collaborative effort to bring joy to children and families during the holidays when many families continue to struggle financially. Their efforts help to bring smiles and joy to our children, and their actions truly embody the spirit of the holiday season!”

The Cops Giving Tree not only involved major local organizations but also saw generous contributions from local businesses and community-based organizations, highlighting the strong sense of community support in Soledad.
