SOLEDAD — Last year the Soledad Aztecs had a historic football season that saw them win the Cypress League title for the first time in school history.

Aztec fans are excited to start another season as the team releases their 2023 schedule.

Last season the Aztecs went 9-2, and their only losses were from teams that made the postseason.

This year, Soledad will have to replace a lot of talent from a year ago, but the Aztecs will be a team to watch to win another league title.

When you look at the Aztecs’ schedule, they will have all three of their South Monterey County rivals on their schedule. Last year Gonzales and Greenfield were within one score.

To begin the season, the Aztecs will face Palma and Branham, both of which made the postseason a year ago.

Another thing that will affect the Aztec fan base is that they start the season with two Thursday games. In total, the Aztecs will have three Thursday games this season.

Also this year, Soledad will have fewer times to play at home as they only have four home games and only three Friday night games. The Aztecs will have to travel six times this season.

Soledad will take their blows early in the season, but if they can learn from those tough games, they could push for another league title.
