SALINAS VALLEY — South Monterey County high school softball All-League players were recently announced by the Pacific Coast Athletic League in their respective divisions.

In the Mission Division, Avery Munoz of King City was named as a first-team All-League player as an outfielder and infielder. Pitcher Alizah Carrillo and second baseman Amity Hearne were second-team All-League players.

Kassandra Hernandez of Soledad was a second-team selection as a shortstop and pitcher, and teammate Sophia Gonzales was second-team as an outfielder.

Kayla Fullalove-Silveira of Monte Vista Christian was the Offensive Player of the Year; Jasmine Estrada of Alisal was the Defensive Player of the Year; and Alex Giammanco of Pacific Grove was the Pitcher of the Year.

Jocelyn Romero of King City and Jaylynn Garcia of Soledad were chosen to the Richard Chamberlin All-Sportsmanship team.

The Cypress Division featured players from Greenfield and Gonzales. Division champion Greenfield had four players chosen as first-team All-League players and Gonzales had three players.

Greenfield players included Chloe Zavala, Nathalie Soto, Brizea Rojas and Yara Herandez. Chosen from Gonzales were Mariana Camarena, Alizah Garcia and Cherish Yebra.

Bruin second-team selections were Ashley Zavala, Krystal Nunez, Karina Garcia, Isabella Figueroa and Aniah Helm. For the Spartans, Ailette Reyes and Karisma Cabada were second-team selections.

Camarena was the Cypress Offensive Player of the Year, Zavala was the Pitcher of the Year and Hemeria De La Torre of Pajaro Valley was the Defensive Player of the Year.

Mustang awards night

Last Friday at King City High School, the Lady Mustangs softball program gathered at the school cafeteria for a banquet and awards night.

The Central Coast Section champions presented team awards to Jocelyn Romero (Defensive Player of the Year); Amity Hearne (Lady Mustang Award); Janesa Lopez (Clutch Player of the Year); Avery Munoz (Offensive Player of the Year); and Alizah (Lulu) Carrillo (Most Valuable Player).

Junior varsity awards were presented to Julieta Barroso (Coaches Awards); Unique Mendoza (Offensive Player of the Year); and Ariah Suarez (Defensive Player of the Year).
