MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey-Salinas Transit will reinstate fare collection throughout its bus system beginning Aug. 1. Passengers will once again pay at the front door of buses by placing their fare in the farebox. MST had gone fare-free on March 18 as part of its safety efforts to protect passengers and drivers, reducing the contact both had to make with the fare interface.
