VOTER REGISTRATION DAY
MONTEREY COUNTY — Tuesday, Sept. 19, marks National Voter Registration Day, a day where voters across the country are encouraged to “Get Vote Ready.” In preparation for the 2024 presidential election cycle, Monterey County Elections invites residents to register to vote and check their voter status. Community members and organizations are encouraged to join in promoting voter preparedness by taking to their social media pages and websites with the following statement: “It’s National Voter Registration Day. Take 30 seconds to register to vote or check your voter status at registertovote.ca.gov #MontereyCountyVotes.” For more information about upcoming elections, visit montereycountyelections.us.
TROOP DONATIONS
KING CITY — Southern Monterey County Republican Women Federated will be collecting items to be sent to servicemen and women serving overseas on Oct. 3. Anyone who would like to participate in this ongoing project can drop off items for the troops at the Rustler/Tribune newspaper office, 522-B Broadway St. in King City, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., or the King City Library, 402 Broadway St. SMCRWF has partnered with Operation: Care and Comfort, an all-volunteer 501c3 organization. A list of desired items for the troop boxes is also available at the Rustler/Tribune office or the Library. VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE
GONZALES — City of Gonzales is looking for the community’s feedback for its commercial kitchen and theater stage that is scheduled to be located inside the Community Center. Members of the temporary volunteer committee would be expected to participate in one or two monthly meetings and work alongside City staff and the design/build team. No experience is required.
