MONTHLY LUNCHEON

KING CITY — Southern Monterey County Republican Women Federated will host its monthly luncheon meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 11:30 a.m. at King Kora Restaurant, 611 Canal St., in King City. The guest speaker will be Julie DeMaria, president and co-founder of Operation Care and Comfort, an all-volunteer organization that sends packages to servicemen and women serving overseas. NEW CLASSROOMS

GREENFIELD — South Monterey County Joint Union High School District is inviting the community to attend a ribbon cutting for the new classrooms building at Greenfield High School on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 4 p.m. The building was a result of voter approval of Measure Q. After the ribbon cutting, tours will be given. The high school is located at 225 S. El Camino Real.


HALLOWEEN CONTEST

KING CITY — King City Recreation Department will host its second annual house-decorating contest, which is free to the public. Judging will take place on Oct. 6 and prizes will be awarded based on creativity, originality, design and layout. To register, contact 831-385-6748.


BONUS BRIEF: COFFEE COPS

KING CITY — King City Police Department will host another Coffee with a Cop event on Wednesday, Oct. 6, from 8 to 10 a.m., at Starbucks, 1301 Broadway St., in King City. Join local officers for some coffee while asking questions or talking about concerns in the community.
