HALLOWEEN DANCE
KING CITY — Student Senate for California Community Colleges, Region IV, is hosting a Halloween dance on Monday, Oct. 30, inside the community room at Hartnell College’s King City Education Center, 117 N. Second St. The event, from 4 to 8 p.m., is open to everyone and includes live music, games, a costume contest, pumpkin carving and more. Proceeds from the event will go toward student advocacy, equity, access and scholarships.
LCAP MEETINGS
SALINAS VALLEY — South Monterey County Joint Union High School District is developing its next Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) and new Facilities Master Plan, which will be implemented beginning next school year and over several years after. The District is planning multiple community forums to gather input not only from students, staff and parents, but also from the greater community to help design curriculum pathways for future graduates and the facilities that will support them. The final two meetings, with a focus on education, are set for Oct. 30, from 6 to 7 p.m., in the Library at King City High School, 720 Broadway St.; and Nov. 1, from 7 to 8 p.m., in the Student Union at Greenfield High School, 225 S. LIBRARY SURVEY
MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County Free Libraries will be conducting a survey in October regarding its public service hours at local branches. MCFL regularly evaluates the public service hours of all its locations to ensure continued maximization of efficient use of library resources and giving outstanding service to Monterey County. This survey gives library users and non-users a voice regarding the public service hours of the library locations they use. The data collected will be used to determine what changes need to be made, if any, to the public service hours of MCFL branches. The survey will be an in-person paper survey at the branches and other locations as well as online at emcfl.org.

CHUALAR — Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez and his District 3 office will be hosting a series of listening sessions throughout South Monterey County. The next session will take place Thursday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m. at Chualar Union Elementary School, 24285 Lincoln St., in Chualar. Residents are invited to share their thoughts and concerns about the community and county government.
