HIGHWAY MEETING

CHUALAR — Caltrans is inviting the public to attend a public meeting on the proposed US 101 South of Salinas Corridor Improvement Project. This proposal would relocate two interchanges on Highway 101 at Grant and Main streets in Chualar and at Abbott Street, south of Salinas. The proposed project would also remove median access and eliminate left-turn and U-turn maneuvers along 101. The meeting will take place Thursday, Oct. 24, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Chualar Elementary School Gymnasium at 24285 Lincoln St. in Chualar. The meeting will include an introduction of the project proposed on Highway 101 between the 101 northbound exit in Chualar and the 101 undercrossing at Airport Road, an overview of considered alternatives, public comment on these alternatives and a briefing on the preparation of the upcoming draft environmental document. The meeting will be held in an open-house format, which will allow the public to speak with and ask questions of Caltrans engineering, traffic operations and environmental staff.

FALL HARVEST

SALINAS — Coastal Kids Home Care, a Salinas-based nonprofit dedicated to providing in-home care for medically fragile children, is hosting its second annual Fall Harvest event on Friday, Oct. 25, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Borchard Farms, 142 Rodgers Road, in Salinas. This special Halloween celebration offers an inclusive environment for Coastal Kids families to connect and enjoy festivities that many children are unable to experience due to health challenges. The free event features a costume contest, face painting, pumpkin decorating and snacks, allowing kids who often miss out on traditional Halloween activities to celebrate in a safe space. For families facing the challenges of caring for a disabled child, this gathering also serves as a vital opportunity for connection and support among parents and siblings.
