CLEANUP DAY
SOLEDAD — City of Soledad and other organizations have planned a Reuse, Recycle and Cleanup Day on Saturday, May 31, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Soledad High School. Soledad residents can dispose of such items as general garbage, electronics, TVs, computers, metal appliances and metal and steel items, including refrigerators and freezers, for free. No furniture or yard waste will be accepted. In addition, there will be a special materials collection for antifreeze, batteries, oil and paint.
DOWNTOWN PLAZA OPENS
KING CITY — King City will celebrate the grand opening of its new Downtown Plaza and Visitor and History Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, May 31, at 11 a.m. The project, developed over six years, aims to create a vibrant community hub featuring a central gathering space, public art, children’s interactive areas and historical exhibits. The Visitor Center will house the King City Chamber of Commerce, provide visitor information and showcase local history. The event will include free food, entertainment, presentations and guided tours. Everyone is welcome to join in this celebration of community pride and downtown revitalization. The Downtown Plaza is located at the corner of Broadway Street and Vanderhurst Avenue.
SMCRWF MEETING
KING CITY — Southern Monterey County Republican Women Federated will host its monthly meeting on Tuesday, June 3, at 11:30 a.m. at Wildhorse Café, Highway 101 and Wildhorse Road, in King City. The guest speaker will be Junior Nuno, CEO of Nuno Iron and former Special Operations Training and Combat Operations in the U.S. Army. He will talk about the troops serving overseas. Members and guests are asked to bring items to be sent to the troops. The club has partnered with Operation: Care and Comfort and a list of desired items can be found at occ-usa.org.
