SALINAS VALLEY — Monterey County Office of Education has recognized two school staff members from Salinas Valley as recipients of this year’s Classified School Employees of the Year award. Alicia Felix of South Monterey County Joint Union School District was honored for paraprofessional services, while Simon Valdez of Greenfield Union School District was honored for skilled trade services. Both were among nine total winners who received the award for going “above and beyond to support the education of public school students from preschool through 12th grade.”
TRANSPORTATION SURVEY
SAN ARDO — Monterey County is applying for grant funding from the Active Transportation Program to fund much-needed infrastructure improvements in San Ardo. Community input is being sought to help improve the county’s chances of receiving funding for this project. San Ardo residents are asked to describe active transportation needs in the community through an online survey at tinyurl.com/SanArdoSurvey. The deadline to respond is May 18.

SALINAS — Youth between the ages of 16 and 24 who are looking for summertime work are invited to attend an in-person job fair on Wednesday, May 18. Employers in hospitality, retail and other industries will be available to meet from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Youth Job Fair, 344 Salinas St., in Salinas.
