REGISTERING VOTERS

KING CITY — Southern Monterey County Republican Women Federated will be registering voters of all parties during the Salinas Valley Fair, May 12-15, at its booth in the Expo Building at the fairgrounds in King City. Anyone who has moved, changed their name or wishes to switch political parties must re-register by May 23 to vote in the Primary Election on June 7. CLEANUP DAY

SOLEDAD — A Reuse, Recycling and Cleanup Day is planned for Saturday, May 14, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Soledad High School, 425 Gabilan Drive. The free event is only available to Soledad residents. Items accepted include donations, general garbage, electronics, TVs and computers, metal appliances, mattresses and metal and steel items. No wood, yard waste, large furniture or couches will be accepted.


STEINBECK FEST

SALINAS — Salinas Steinbeck Rotary Club will host Steinbeck’s Home Brew Fest on Saturday, May 14, at 4 p.m. at the Salinas Sports Complex, 1034 North Main St. in Salinas. More than 50 home brewers are expecting to serve over 150 different beer choices during the event, which is the major annual fundraiser for the club. Adults 21 and over are welcome to enjoy live music and offerings from a variety of food trucks, as well. To purchase tickets, go to steinbeckrotary.org.


BONUS BRIEF: PUBLIC WORKS WEEK

MONTEREY COUNTY — Transportation Agency for Monterey County Board of Directors has adopted a proclamation to declare the week of May 15-21 as National Public Works Week to pay tribute to public works planners, engineers, managers, administrative staff and operators. The proclamation recognizes their “substantial contributions they make to our community’s health, safety and quality of life.”
