SUMMER READING

MONTEREY COUNTY — In June and July, all branches of Monterey County Free Libraries will host exciting and entertaining performers and invite patrons to sign up for the Summer Reading Club for reading challenges. Summer is a great time for all, especially children, to read in order to keep the skill they learned during the school year. All participants get a free book of their choice for signing up. Children will be encouraged to read 20 minutes a day and record it on their reading log; after eight hours of reading, they can collect a prize. Adults will be invited to participate in reading challenges to win a prize. Libraries will also be serving Lunch at the Library at least one day a week. To learn more about these programs, contact the local branches.
