KING CITY — Mee Memorial Foundation will celebrate National Rose Month with a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, June 29, to unveil the new fountain, bricks and bench area at Mee Memorial Hospital in King City. This coincides with June being National Rose Month. The ribbon cutting will take place at the Memorial Rose Garden, planted more than 50 years ago by a local man wanting to honor his wife in long-term care, and will take place at 5 p.m. The event will include presentations from Soledad and King City mayors, the Chambers of Commerce and rose garden donors. There will be light bites, a champagne toast and acoustical music throughout the event.
ELDER JUSTICE SUMMIT
MONTEREY COUNTY — In honor of Elder Abuse Awareness Month, this year’s Monterey County Elder Justice Summit will take place Wednesday, June 30, at 9 a.m. via Zoom. The free virtual webinar, titled “The Age of Change,” will feature nationally recognized author and advocate Ashton Applewhite, who will present “Still Kicking: Confronting Ageism and Ableism in the Pandemic’s Wake,” along with a forum on the Master Plan for Aging. CENTRAL COAST — Caltrans District 5 is seeking public input on the Central Coast’s Highway 101 corridor via an online survey at surveymonkey.com/r/US101BP. The survey will help establish goals for the Caltrans and Central Coast Coalition’s 2021 US 101 Business Plan, which is now under development and will provide data, strategies and community support necessary to plan for long and short-term corridor improvements. The deadline for survey participation is June 30.
