COVID ART SHOW

SALINAS — Arts Council for Monterey County is seeking original works of art for a juried show at the Monterey County Health Department Building at 1270 Natividad Road in Salinas. Only 40 adult artwork pieces and 20 youth art pieces promoting “Art in the Time of Covid-19” will be shown. This will be an opportunity for local artists to submit art created while sheltering in place, social distancing and other prevention measures that were in place and potentially affecting normal inspiration sources. PET MICROCHIPS

SALINAS VALLEY — South County Animal Rescue, Animal Friends Rescue Project and SPCA of Monterey County will host low-cost microchip drive-thru clinics in Soledad, Greenfield and King City on June 26. The Soledad clinic will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Visitor’s Center on Front Street. The Greenfield clinic will happen from 12 to 2 p.m. at Patriot Park. The King City clinic will be from 3 to 5 p.m. at King City Recreation Center. The intent is to make reuniting lost pets with their owners in the event they go missing, which is an increased concern with Fourth of July fireworks explosions, which can cause pets to flee in fright.


REDISTRICTING COMMISSION

MONTEREY COUNTY — The County of Monterey is looking for applicants for the 2021 Advisory Redistricting Commission to begin the effort to redraw the county’s five supervisorial district boundaries, a process that takes place after every decennial census. A 15-member commission will host virtual public hearings and mapping sessions, collect community input and recommend updated placement of the supervisorial district boundaries. KING CITY — Sol Treasures will host a Hometown Market on Broadway on Saturday, June 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The market will feature handcrafted items and goods. A total of 15 vendors have signed on for the event at 519 Broadway St. in King City. For information, call 831-386-9809.
