POOLS OPEN
KING CITY — Renovation of the King City dive pool is moving at a much-faster pace than anticipated, and as a result, the planned two-week closure for June 12-23 will not be necessary. The summer schedule will return to the original regular programming: Tuesday–Friday, 12:15 to 1 p.m., Water Aerobics and Lap Swimming; and Tuesday–Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m., Rec Swim. Regular session swimming lessons will resume June 27. During the next two weeks, private swim lesson signups are available at kingcityrecreation.com. For more information, call the Pool Office at 831-385-5790.
PRESCRIBED BURNS
GONZALES — Gonzales Fire Department will be conducting prescribed burns in the slough area behind the Gonzales Pool from June 13 to 15. With the summer and July 4 approaching, fire officials say this will help with any accidental fires. All burns will start in the early morning. Anyone who lives near the slough should remember to bring all their animals inside, close their windows if sensitive to smoke and don’t be alarmed if they see smoke.
MOBILE HOURS
SALINAS — Monterey County Supervisor Luis Alejo has rescheduled his District 1 mobile office hours this month. The new scheduled date for the mobile office hours is Friday, June 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Outdoor Market/El Mercado Popular at the Salinas Sports Complex, 1034 N. Main St. in Salinas. Alejo said it’s an easy way to meet with local residents in an informal setting and without requiring an appointment. “El Mercado Popular draws hundreds of people each week, and it’s been a great place to hold my mobile office hours and meet with local residents about issues impacting the county,” he said.
