FREE NARCAN

GREENFIELD — City of Greenfield and the Greenfield Union School District partnered with the Monterey County Health Department to offer free Narcan and fentanyl test strips to the community. Narcan can now be accessed via distribution boxes at four locations in Greenfield — no questions asked: Greenfield Civic Center, 599 El Camino Real, Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Greenfield Fire Department, 380 Oak Ave. (located outside), available 24/7; Greenfield Community Science Workshop, 45 El Camino Real, Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Greenfield Union School District, Family Resource Center, 493 El Camino Real, Tuesday and Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Instructions and information on local resources are available at each distribution box. NEW EXHIBIT

SALINAS — ArtWorks @Salinas has announced the upcoming exhibit “Glaze, Stain, Pour: Embodied Alter-Tales” by artist Dani Torvik. The exhibit will open on July 5 through Sept. 27 at the Arts Council for Monterey County’s (Arts4MC) ArtWorks @Salinas Studios and Gallery. The exhibit will feature a collection of vibrant and emotive paintings that explore themes of personal nostalgia and cultural symbolism. Torvik’s work draws from a rich tapestry of influences, including architecture, art history and European folklore. An opening reception will take place at ArtWorks @Salinas at 262 Main St. in Salinas at 5:30 p.m. on July 5 in conjunction with Salinas’ First Friday. Guests will have the opportunity to engage with the artist and enjoy refreshments and snacks while exploring the exhibit. Two subsequent First Friday Artist Receptions will take place on Friday, Aug. 2, and Friday, Sept. 6. The exhibit will be open weekly from Friday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free and all are welcome. For more information, visit arts4mc.org/artworks.


ADOPTION EVENT

MONTEREY COUNTY — Find a lifetime of love during SPCA Monterey County’s Adoption Event this Friday through Sunday, July 5-7. During the event, adoption fees for puppies or kittens 6 months and younger are discounted. Fees for all other pets have been paid for by donors and can be adopted at no cost. SPCA Monterey County is located at 1002 Monterey-Salinas Highway, across from WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Salinas. Adoption hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. SPCA adoptions include the pet’s spay or neuter surgery, permanent microchip identification, vaccinations, SPCA ID tag, a health evaluation and more.
