MEDICAL CAMP

SALINAS — A unique summer camp program is underway at Salinas Valley Health, where enthusiastic campers are on campus for a two-week, behind-the-scenes introduction to the healthcare field. This summer’s cohort consists of 29 students, grades 4-6, across Monterey County. The fun camp format exposes this age group to a variety of educational opportunities and interactive group activities. The program covers a wide range of opportunities from learning about advanced medical technology to enjoying art therapy and physical fitness activities. The program culminates with a trip to the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose and a graduation ceremony on Friday, July 28.


NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

SALINAS VALLEY — National Night Out will take place Tuesday, Aug. 1, with free celebrations in all four South Monterey County cities. Soledad will kick off the annual community-policing event at 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Soledad Community Center, 560 Walker Drive. King City will host its event from 5 to 7 p.m. at the King City Fire Department, 422 Bassett St. Greenfield’s celebration will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at Greenfield Village at the Gazebo. Lastly, Gonzales has set its event for 6 to 8 p.m. at the Gonzales Police Department, 109 Fourth St. Each gathering will offer free food, games, music, safety education and more, as families come together with local police departments to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.


BUSINESS COUNCIL

MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County Business Council is expanding its Building Business Back programming by establishing satellite office locations in South Monterey County. Satellite office hours are the first Tuesday of every month from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Economic Development Department, 502 Front St., in Soledad, and the third Tuesday of every month from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hestia Cafe, 320 Broadway St., Suite B, in King City. Business owners and entrepreneurs, or those looking to start a business and need some advice, are encouraged to stop by.

KING CITY — Southern Monterey County Republican Women Federated will host its monthly luncheon meeting Tuesday, Aug. 1, at 11:30 a.m. at King Kora Restaurant, 611 Canal St., in King City. Members and guests will host the two 2023 scholarship winners and their families. Genesis Ibarra Corcoles is the scholarship recipient from Greenfield High School, and George Roberts is the scholarship recipient from King City High School.
