TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMITTEE
GREENFIELD — City of Greenfield Public Works is accepting applications to fill two committee member seats on the Traffic Safety Committee. Applications may be downloaded from the City website or a hard copy picked up at City Hall. The City’s new Traffic Calming Handbook is also available online and for viewing at City Hall. The Handbook provides the community with information about the City’s policies on traffic calming and to provide a better understanding of the available tools and necessary steps to seek basic and comprehensive traffic calming services. Applications are due by 4 p.m. on July 28.

SALINAS — The community is invited to attend the Open House Celebration for the Monterey County Department of Social Services’ One Stop Career Center at 730 La Guardia St. in Salinas on Friday, July 28, at 1 p.m. The free event is open to the public, and the first 100 attendees will receive a free $25 gas card. Free food, drinks, shaved ice, music, face painting and prizes will be available, along with more than 30 community service providers sharing resources and information. This special event will showcase the resource information for families, seniors, individuals with disabilities and caregivers served through the One Stop Career Center and partnerships of service providers.

GONZALES — Summer Movie Night at the Pool is returning this Friday, July 28, at the Gonzales Community Pool. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the movie “Shrek” will start at 8:45 p.m. All children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Gonzales City Hall or at the Pool on the day of the movie showing.
*This event has been canceled “due to unforeseen circumstances we are currently experiencing with the pool,” according to the City of Gonzales on Friday. “If you have purchased tickets for tonight’s showing, feel free to stop by City Hall to receive a full refund.”

KING CITY — City of King continues to support the Food Bank for Monterey County monthly food distribution that takes place at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds the first Wednesday of every month from 9 to 11 a.m. The City is responsible for coordinating the volunteers.
