NEW CHIEF

KING CITY — King City Police Capt. Keith Boyd was sworn in as the city’s interim police chief effective Jan. 4. Boyd is filling in for Robert Masterson, who left after more than three years at the helm of the department. Masterson will be recognized for his service at the next City of King council meeting, which will be held virtually via Zoom at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12. The process for selecting his permanent replacement will be determined within the next two months.


BEST WINE

GONZALES — City of Gonzales congratulated local winery Caraccioli Cellars for its recent achievement in the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships. Out of more than 1,000 applicants, the winery’s 2014 Brut Rosé was awarded Best U.S. Sparkling Wine 2020.


ELECTRIC BUS

CHUALAR — Chualar Union School District received an air-quality grant targeted at improving local air quality, resulting in the Dec. 17 delivery of a fully funded electric bus and charging infrastructure at the school from Lion Electric Co.
