BURN PERMITS
MONTEREY COUNTY — Cal Fire San Benito-Monterey Unit has announced that hazard reduction burning in State Responsibility Areas (SRA) of San Benito and Monterey counties will require an official permit, effective Jan. 16. “Hazard reduction burning is an essential tool in wildfire prevention, but it must be conducted responsibly to ensure public safety and protect natural resources,” stated the agency. Due to ongoing fire hazard conditions, Cal Fire continues to require individuals to obtain burn permits before conducting any burning activities. Burn permits can be obtained online at burnpermit.fire.ca.gov, or visit a local Cal Fire office.
