SALINAS — This past Monday, Jan. 31, marked the opening of the Declaration of Intention filing period for judicial seats in the June 7, 2022, Statewide Direct Primary Election. All interested candidates must file their Declaration of Intention no later than 5 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 9. Judicial candidates must pay their non-refundable filing fee and/or submit Signature In-Lieu Petitions at the time they file their Declaration of Intention. ROUND-UP PROGRAM
MONTEREY COUNTY — Goodwill Central Coast will continue its Round-Up Program in 2022, starting with Max’s Helping Paws Foundation on Wednesday, Feb. 9. Described as “change for change,” the Round-Up Program asks customers to donate leftover change rounded up to the nearest dollar, with other donation options displayed on the credit card terminal machine. The Feb. 9 Round-Up will take place at all Goodwill locations in Monterey County, with proceeds going directly to Max’s. The nonprofit foundation supports all Monterey County veterinary practices to provide financial assistance to clients with pets in need of both critical short-term or longer-term care for chronic illness. Goodwill will continue this program for other community nonprofits throughout the year.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
KING CITY — In partnership with the King City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, the City of King is working on a number of economic development efforts. An important component of these efforts is the attraction and development of new small businesses, particularly in the downtown area. The City can help provide ideas, options and technical assistance for potential new business owners.
