POLICE VACCINES

KING CITY — King City Police Department announced Jan. 20 that it had partnered with Mee Memorial Healthcare System to immunize the KCPD staff after Monterey County Department of Public Health received authorization to include police officers in the Covid-19 vaccine prioritization. Police officers routinely respond to medical emergencies in addition to their law enforcement duties. Officers at KCPD will continue to wear face coverings in observance of the city’s ordinance.


CAREGIVER SUPPORT

SALINAS — Those with family members who have Alzheimer’s disease or related neurocognitive disorder are offered the chance to join a caregiver support group to find out more about community resources, learn from others going through similar experiences and build a support system. The Salinas caregiver support group meets on the first Wednesday of each month without a fee. Groups are led by a trained facilitator and will meet over telephone and Zoom. The next meeting is Feb. 3 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. To register or for more information, contact 800-272-3900.


FOOD WASTE COLLECTION

GREENFIELD — Greenfield restaurants, grocery stores and food waste generators are encouraged to sign up for three months of free food waste collection. The pilot program includes three months of free service through May and free collection containers and compostable bags. The service is mandatory for all qualified businesses. Those interested can contact Tri-Cities Disposal and Recycling at 888-678-6798.
