PINNACLES CELEBRATION

SOLEDAD — A celebration of the 10th anniversary of Pinnacles National Park becoming a national park will take place Saturday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Soledad Historical Society, 137 Soledad St., in Soledad. Special activities for all ages are planned. The event will also recognize the 20 years of the Condor Recovery Program.


HOLIDAY LIGHTS PARADE

GONZALES — City of Gonzales will host the Holiday Lights Parade on Saturday, Dec. 9, beginning at 6 p.m. Setup will take place at Canyon Creek Park from 5 to 5:30 p.m. The traveling parade will end at Brusa Field, 250 First St. Vehicle participants can register at teamsideline.com/gonzales or call 831-675-5000.


VETERAN GRAVES

KING CITY — The King City Cemetery and Wreaths Across America will be hosting a wreath-laying ceremony at the cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 16. The wreaths will be placed on all veterans’ graves. If anyone knows of any veterans interred without a veteran’s mark on the grave or knows of any veteran who has died in the past year who is interred at King City Cemetery, contact Kathy Imamura at 408-802-4437 or kd*******@sb*******.net. Wreaths can also be purchased by contacting Imamura at the number above.


BONUS BRIEF: SUPERVISOR OPEN HOUSE

SALINAS — Monterey County Supervisor Luis Alejo is inviting the public to his Annual Holiday Open House and Homeless Children Winter Clothing and Backpack Drive on Wednesday, Dec. 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Monterey County Government Center at 168 W. Alisal St. in Salinas (2nd Floor). This is an opportunity for the public to come visit Alejo’s office, talk about issues of concern and services the office can provide in Monterey County. The event will also include refreshments and appetizers. In addition, Alejo and Salinas Mayor Kimbley Craig are tag teaming and raising donations for homeless children and adults who stay at the Salinas SHARE Homeless Navigation Center. The public can bring an unwrapped item, such as backpacks, school supplies, gloves, jackets, sweaters, scarfs, beanies, socks or gift cards for youth.
