OVERDOSE AWARENESS

SALINAS — Sun Street Centers will host the Overdose Awareness Symposium on Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Salinas Sports Complex, 1034 N. Main St., in Salinas. This is a free, countywide event focused on the uptick in drug-related overdoses. There will be free dinner, raffle opportunities and childcare. SENIOR SOCIAL

KING CITY — King City’s next SOCOS Social (SOuth COunty Seniors Social) featuring a free lunch, entertainment and access to senior resources is set for Thursday, Sept. 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the King City Recreation Center, 401 Division St. Seniors age 60 and older who live in King City or the surrounding communities within Monterey County are invited to attend the social, presented by Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley. SOCCER TOURNAMENT

GONZALES — Gonzales High School boys soccer team will be hosting a 5 vs. 5 soccer tournament in honor of coach Juan Flores on Saturday, Sept. 3, with all proceeds going to the team. Games will begin at 9 a.m. at the Gonzales High stadium, with a maximum of 10 players per team.
