GONZALES — The final day to purchase tickets for the Gonzales High School 50th Class Reunion (Classes 1972-78) is Aug. 28. SURPLUS DONATIONS

SALINAS — Monterey County will host a one-day surplus equipment donation event on Aug. 29 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 1488 Schilling Place in Salinas. Eligible public charities, nonprofits and teachers can view and pick up office furniture, chairs, file cabinets and bookcases. All items must be removed by 1 p.m. Proof of nonprofit status is required, and teachers must show proof of current teaching status, such as a badge/business card from current employer or teaching certificate. NIGHT MARKET

KING CITY — The 805 Night Market is taking place from Aug. 29 to 31 at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds, 625 Division St. in King City. This vibrant multicultural event features more than 60 local vendors offering a diverse array of delicious foods, exciting games and live entertainment for the entire family. BONUS BRIEF: OVERDOSE AWARENESS EVENTS

MONTEREY COUNTY — Community Human Services (CHS) will host two events in honor of Overdose Awareness Day, bringing the community together to remember those lost to overdose, support those in recovery and raise awareness about life-saving resources available locally. The first event will be held on Friday, Aug. 29, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Off Main Clinic, 1083 S. Main St., in Salinas. The second event will take place on Sunday, Aug. 31, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Genesis House, 1152 Sonoma Ave., in Seaside. Both events are free and open to the public, with refreshments provided. Narcan, the overdose reversal medication, will be available free of charge. Overdose Awareness Day is recognized globally as a time to honor the lives lost to overdose, acknowledge the grief of families and friends left behind, and highlight the importance of prevention, treatment and recovery resources.
